Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All my students are English language learners, ELLs, and the majority qualify for free or reduced-price meals.

My students are responsible to learn academic English along with all the grade-level content standards.

Learning a new language and grade-level standards simultaneously is challenging for all of my students. My students range from newcomers who are new to the country to students who are almost ready to reclassify, meaning they are fluent in their home language and in academic English.

My Project

It is important to integrate visual arts with technology. Not only because it will foster our students' 21st-century learning skills but it can be a fun and exciting addition to teaching the Visual Arts.

Integrating Technology with the Visual Arts is another way to give students a new way to be creative.

There are endless possibilities of what students can accomplish with the latest technology, an Apple MacBook Pro. My students will access the app "Learn to Draw" to follow step by step instructions to create simple designs using basic shapes and lines. When drawing a frog this app will teach the student how to follow directions by drawing an oval for the body, a circle for the head, and 2 triangles for the eyes.

It is important to stimulate a young child's mind through the Visual Arts. Research has shown that children who are able to express themselves creatively are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement.
