My Students

My students are bright and caring children. They love to work together and learn in active ways! Our school is arts-integrated, which means we teach concepts through the arts, including drama, visual arts, creative movement, and creative writing. We also teach and foster collaboration as a key cornerstone in our curriculum.

Our students learn how to work as a group through the creative process.

They take pride in their work and love to celebrate each other's accomplishments. Our school is such a positive environment!

My Project

My students love hands-on lessons where they get to show their knowledge and understanding using creativity. This next quarter I will be teaching about the interdependence of plants and animals, particularly reptiles. Students will work in groups to become experts on one reptile. I would like for students to create a hand-built replica of their animals after they have done their research. Their clay animal will show the animal structures and their functions. By building the animal, students will have a deeper sense of the animal parts and the reasons why the animal has those parts. ALL students will be able to complete this assignment, whether students have Special Needs or are English learners, because art meets students where they are.
