My Students

As the technology teacher for our school community, I am not in the classroom daily. Instead, I wok with the classroom teachers to create large scale projects for the students that incorporate technology of all types.

Located in Philadelphia, our school is a small but powerful force for positive change.

Students in our school are encouraged to explore and create in a variety of outlets, including a woodshop. Our school is in its second year and we are slowly adding to our materials and supplies to further help our students succeed.

My Project

Washing goggles after each use is a time consuming process that doesn't guarantee actual disinfection of the goggles. Right now, our students use disinfecting wipes at the beginning of their class. The wipes are constantly running out and even when we have them, students cannot easily reach every little fold of the goggles.

Safety is important in any classroom but it becomes an even bigger issue when students are working with materials such as wood and chemicals.

The cabinet that is being requested will take under twenty minutes to sanitize a class set of goggles. This means that multiple times per day, the lab will be able to ensure that goggles are getting disinfected. The cabinet will be installed in our materials lab (woodshop) but will also be used by the science department.
