My Project

Hi, my name is Andrea and I teach computer science in a self-contained special education setting. My students are truly remarkable! This year, they have completed projects in coding using different sites. Despite facing significant challenges, they demonstrated incredible resilience and determination in their computer science journey.

My students this year showed a big interest in learning about virtual reality.

We have been using cardboard versions of headset. We used apps on my phone to explore virtual reality. I would love to provide my students with this new technology. The Meta virtual reality headset could provide immersive experiences tailored to the needs of students with special needs, offering simulations and interactive environments designed to enhance learning and development. For instance, it could offer personalized sensory experiences, simulations to improve social skills, or virtual environments to practice real-world scenarios in a safe and controlled manner.

When teaching students with virtual reality tools, some goals I have for myself are:

1. Facilitating immersive learning experiences that engage students in active participation.

2. Tailoring virtual reality content to meet individual learning needs and styles.

3. Promoting critical thinking and problem-solving skills through interactive simulations.

4. Fostering collaboration and communication among students in virtual environments.

5. Monitoring and assessing student progress within virtual reality experiences.

6. Ensuring ethical and responsible use of virtual reality technology.

7. Integrating virtual reality experiences seamlessly into the curriculum to enhance learning outcomes.

My students already have shown an astonishing interest in virtual reality and computer science, project will only help enrich their experiences in the computer science world.
