This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A proper introduction of the students at our middle school would include the adjectives: hardworking, inventive, and resourceful. The student population in our building consists of students who are from a variety of backgrounds. Many of our students use the school as a gateway to great experiences from the teaching staff of our school. Our school community is very diverse and our students come from many walks of life and yet they find ways to become successful in the classroom and beyond. The only component missing is an opportunity to be creative in a process of instruction delivery. This DonorsChoose.org project will give them an opportunity to extend their thinking as they explore the contents of the learning progressions lessons in our curriculum. Our students enjoy reading and have increased circulation in our library by 17% and engaging in taking more Accelerated Reading tests in our school by over 80% since the start of the school year.
My Project
This electronic library resource will give students access to books 24/7. Students will no longer be tethered to the school Media Center for access to books and learning. This collection is filled with non-fiction books that students can use to complete research projects, learn about finances, government policy development, and more. Students can complete projects at home without having to get to library that is more than 10 miles away. This project would be a resource that will help student to complete assignments in this new virtual learning environment and be successful.
