My Students

My students are the definition of resilience and Houston Strong. The majority of my students are at-risk and economically disadvantaged youth, yet these labels do not stop my students from chasing and achieving their goals. Many of my students come from single-parent homes and will be the first in their family to receive a high school diploma. The students within my classroom can be productive and successful citizens of the United States with a little help and guidance.

My students are smart, intuitive, and very eager to learn in a variety of ways.

Our middle school is composed of students with a thirst for learning and eagerness to become productive citizens.

My Project

Our school just purchased a program, IXL, that will not only help struggling students but help those that are up to par excel even more. Funding for public school system classroom is always an issue to make these programs work. We can go to the computer lab once every two weeks, but to make this program work effectively, they need more. Most people focus on the struggling student, but this will help the advanced student as well. Students that are up to par always finish early and then have to wait as others finish. This will give them the opportunity to advance even more. They can then go above and beyond using the iPads to access more advanced material through the IXL program. Struggling students will use the iPads as well, especially for tutoring or studying for a test. We can't wait to introduce iPads into our classroom so we can excel even more.
