Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Students at the school have been very energetic and want to learn. One hundred percent of our students qualify for free lunch and don't have many resources at home. Technology is lacking at our school and is greatly needed to motivate students in all classes, but especially mathematics classes where many of our students come from schools without math teachers.
With the right resources, they can have the high school experience they deserve and need to be successful in college.
My Project
So many workshops and professional development meetings I have attended mention great apps and programs that will help students in the virtual classroom but with an old computer that doesn't allow for the programs to work at their capacity it becomes frustrating.
Having the ability to just share the screen and write on the screen when teaching math will make it easier for students to understand the math problems.
A new laptop will allow students to go into break out rooms and allow me to show students how to work out problems more efficiently especially with students who have math phobias and have special learning plans.
The whiteboard feature in Zoom will work great with a touchscreen computer because writing and annotating with a mouse is so difficult with math problems and takes up precious time and students lose focus. When drawing linear equations or working out problems, a touchscreen computer allows students to see problems worked out in real time, making the lesson more understandable. A laptop will be a great addition to our growing curriculum.
