Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am no only fortunate to be teaching special education in the South Bronx but also to be teaching 50 amazing students Science! My students are 6th, 7th and 8th graders who are always looking to challenge each others thinking.

They are creative and self-motivated individuals who are ready take their learning to the next level!

My students love to complete hands-on activities where the outcome is to apply their new knowledge to the real world! They love working as a team to move through the scientific process.

My Project

Not all of my students are willing to participate in hands-on activities that might make them dirty or uncomfortable. To meet the needs of those students, it would be beneficial to have tablets accessible to give them differentiated task while still reaching the same standards.

This would help those students engage in activities like from dissections when we are learning about organ systems, without having to cut open a frog.

So provided text to word directions to a student who struggles with reading a procedure. Having our tablets would also be beneficial to my students when they are doing animal behavior studies and collecting data!

I want to be able to give them opportunities to take their learning into their own hands without any limitations. I want them to be able to understand how technology plays a huge role in the world of discovery. I want to ensure that my students are given nothing but the best because that’s what every child regardless of zip code deserves.
