My Students

When I left school on March 13, I thought I would see my students in a few weeks. I sent them home with a paper packet to keep them working until we came back. I didn't think we would be out of school for the rest of the year. Little did we know what would happen in the months that followed.

My students are a great group of 6th and 8th graders who love to learn.

Many of them are eager to return to "regular" school in August, but that is not going to happen. Distance learning has been easier for some and more difficult for others. Most were able to get a device from school but many lack a quiet space to learn or reliable wifi. It's been tough for them. I have been helping them through this process and they are becoming better at it every day. They email me daily asking for help with their device, with math, and sometimes just to chat.

My Project

These items will help make my virtual home classroom a bit more like my real classroom. The laptop stand will put my laptop at the right angle to be able to do everything I need to do while juggling the virtual classroom. The cookbook stand will actually be where I put my lesson notes so I am not constantly looking down. This will help me connect better with my new group of students.

My goal is to make virtual learning as much like learning would be in my classroom.

I want my kids feel as if they are in a real classroom so that they can learn everything they need to learn in 6th grade math. These materials will help me do that because they will make my job seamless.
