My Students

Confucius once said: "I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand." My goal as a Biology teacher is to make my students see, remember and understand the world around them that they cannot see with the naked eye and get fascinated with its complexity and beauty.

I am teaching three CTT classes: inclusion and low level kids in one classroom.

CTT classes consist of one general education teacher and one special education teacher, providing a reduced student/ teacher ratio. My students have different kinds of learning and behavioral disabilities. They are easily distracted and cannot stay on task for a long periods of time. Lecture activities for my kids should be minimized and more concentrated on different kinds of engaging activities: hands on projects and visual presentations.

My Project

With the Wolfe DigiVu digital microscope and different kinds of slides like those in the Animal and Plant Cells Slide Set my students will see the different kinds of plant and animal cells. They will see the relationship between the shape and function of a cell and how the cells of the same type and shape make tissues and further organs and organ systems. My students will be able to see the different structures within a cell. They will determine the differences between plant and animal cell looking at the digital images provided with the digital microscope. Students will be able to draw and label cell organelles on their diagrams. Another very important thing that my students will learn is how to make slides of plant and animal cells.

Digital microscope images once changed my life: I decided to choose a Biology major in college and became a biology teacher.

I hope that my students will become fascinated about the world around them. They may also choose Biological or medical fields as their future professional carriers.
