My Project

Tikun Olam Organization was founded in 2022 after four Jewish high school students decided to bring the value of giving back to the community to their ever evolving, small charter school. VIPHS recently established its own campus in Northridge, CA, and Tikun Olam Organization hopes to influence a culture of togetherness, charitable action, and altruism amongst peers. At a school that does not require community service hours, our mission is to encourage peers to choose to give back to the world out of the kindness of their hearts and the motivation to do good. The Jewish value of repairing the world (Tikun Olam) is the core value and inspiration for our mission: "repairing the world" by planting seeds of hope. In the 2022-2023 school year, Tikun Olam created a garden on VIP's campus, held multiple fundraising events for the school, and partnered with Tree People, a local environmental non-profit to plant trees on campus. Our goal for the 2023-2024 school year is to work with other schools to help them establish their own gardens, reach out to our local community for any environmental related projects they need help with, and hold local non-profit charity events aimed at nurturing our local ecosystems.

Our projects include: revitalizing and planting our sustainable vegetable garden, establishing composting systems on campus, and creating a native plant habitat for local wildlife.
