My Students

Most of my students cannot afford to buy or rent a violin, nor can they afford to pay for private lessons but they have a strong desire to play an instrument.

My students are eager to learn to play a musical instrument, particularly the violin.

However, my students are part of a large urban school district with many of them living at or below the poverty level. Many of them are English Language Learners and playing an instrument is perfect for them since all beginning music students are new to the language of music.

My Project

Violin is the number one choice of almost all students who apply for my instrumental music classes. Since most of my students cannot afford to purchase or rent an instrument, our district loans instruments to the students. However, our district has a limited number of instruments they can loan to each school, and there are never enough violins to loan out. These violins will be used for beginning students to allow them the chance to learn to play an instrument for the very first time.

There is such a demand from parents to enroll their child in a music class.

These violins will allow more students this year and in the future to play the violin and develop a life long love for music. Playing an instrument can be a life altering experience for a child, and I want to have that effect on as many children as I can.
