I teach at a rural school in Morganton North Carolina. We are a Title 1 school with 58% free and reduced lunches. We are also a second home for children in residence at South Mountains Children's Home. Our population is diverse in a unique way, as we are also home to a high population of Asian, Latino, and African American families not to mention smaller populations of diverse cultures. Currently I have an after school club consisting of several children interested in playing the violin. Through our county director, I found out there was a music program that could be added to palm pilots to help the students learn how to read music. This is something that takes a lot of time in most cases, but the program could inspire the children through a game like format to learn to read music quicker. We would like to use these with our after school club each Monday and/ or Wednesday to help them improve their techniques in learning the fine arts skill of playing the violin so they can apply this to all areas of learning. I would like the students to use the palms to take pictures of good techniques their peers are using so they could see what techniques help them have the best quality in their sound on the violin. We would like to request 5 Zire 72 Palm Pilots and the palm program for reading music. These students would truly benefit from your gift because it would help them improve skills that require dedication and time to attain.
