Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students are English Language Learners, fighting the battle of learning a new language and trying to "do" school in this language they are learning. Many of are here without their parents and sometimes without siblings. Others are refugees who've fled countries of war, where formal education was non-existent.
Each student has over half of their schedule being English learning - a heavy load, but continuing to add color in instruction, printouts, and examples will help enliven interest and make learning more enjoyable.
We use diverse colors to celebrate diversity and make learning a better, more accessible experience.
Students enjoy rewards for their hard work, and fun, colored pencils they can choose from is a reward they not only enjoy, but is one they use for their education.
We have background music to reduce tension and set a calming working environment. We also watch videos for instructional assistance and to practice listening skills, which is a required element of their AZELLA test to exit ELD services. A wireless speaker would allow sound to be centrally placed so all can hear well for better comprehension and enjoyment.
