Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every year my 8th grade students participate in honoring our Veterans on November 11th. After discussing the importance of Veterans Day by watching inspirational clips and reading short stories of the men and women who have fought for our country's freedom, the young students in my 8th grade ELA class honor those Veterans by sending them personalized Veterans Day Thank You Cards.

Last school year, the cards were mailed to the local VFW, Veterans hospital, and family members of those who have served.

This year I would like to extend our project to include our local CAN DO, Inc. This collaboration would ensure our Veterans Day Thank You cards reach Veterans who are not local and may be serving in different parts of the world.

It is important students of this generation acknowledge and know that these men and women have and are fighting for our Freedom everyday. Theses kind words will help spread unity far and wide.
