My Project

As my reluctantly reading middle schoolers reach their final quarter of the year, it's important that they continue to read and learn from literature. While choice matters, students also need to be challenged to read class sets of texts, which aid in discussion and critical thinking.

This sets of books in verse by the talented Elizabeth Acevedo would allow my middle school readers carry analog copies of some of her most popular books out of the building with them.

This allows students with a spectrum of reading levels to take on the text at their own pace, both in and outside of the classroom.

Additionally, Acevedo's poetry can inspire students to write on their own. We will be able to complete an author study with these sets.
