My Students

I currently support K-5 grade scholars and teachers in the Miami, Florida area. My students live in a difficult neighborhood of extreme poverty. These students are bright, intuitive, and have the drive to succeed no matter their circumstances. My students attend one of the lowest-achieving schools with little access to resources and experiences.

My students face unimaginable obstacles inside and outside of the classroom.

A majority of my students are at least a grade level behind where they should be, but that doesn't affect their determination to succeed. My students have a growth mindset, and they continue to amaze me with their perseverance and persistence. They will succeed. They will achieve.

The sky is the limit at my elementary school!

My Project

This kit will allow third graders to work on word building, phonics, phonemic awareness, and letter sounds. Students currently struggle with words and letters, and this hands-on kit will allow my students to physically build and manipulate words, letters, and sounds.

We want students to read fluently, and comprehend what they are reading.

This tool will help accomplish that. It's different than a regular paper and pencil worksheet. This will engage students to really work through necessary skills to read on grade level, but also prepare them for the next grade level.
