Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Our Title I school is located in the heart of the South Valley in a very high poverty area with all students receiving free breakfast and lunch.
My ELA and Seminar classes are composed of a diverse group of gifted and talented students with a thirst for new knowledge.
Many of my students have never had the opportunity to explore outside of our community and have a very limited view of the world around us geographically, culturally, or socially.
Our school reflects the diversity of our students, many of which have had family roots here for hundreds of years and many of which are very recent immigrants from other countries.
My Project
The "Minimus" student books are needed in order for my seminar students to undertake the study of Latin.
I am always looking for new ways to challenge my Gifted/Talented students and learning Latin is certainly going to be a challenge.
My students are always up for new exciting learning experiences and learning Latin certainly fits the bill. Learning Latin prefixes and suffixes, root words, historical and cultural references, mythology, etc. will keep student engagement high as well as build a sound reference base as they continue their education.
Our Title I school lacks the funds for the purchase of this curriculum so unless we can get this project funded it will be difficult to start our study of Latin.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
