My Project
I am a second-year counselor in a new building this year. I inherited outdated counseling materials. Some are still good to use, but I want to build my curriculum to meet the needs of my students. I found titles that include topics my students need support in: anxiety, communication, executive functioning, stress management, grief, loss, and big emotions.
I want to use assessments to ensure I am teaching skills well and that my students are learning and demonstrating these skills.
As I teach skills and strategies to students, I want to continually assess how well I am teaching concepts, as well as how well students are understanding and demonstrating them. I might observe at recess to see how they are using the communication skills I am teaching, for example.
I am excited to build my tools and resource library! It is important that it reflects the needs of my students and gives opportunities to demonstrate the skills. This project will have a big impact on my school and students.
