My Students

I am a kindergarten teacher who teaches 24 curious, enthusiastic students. My students represent a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. My school gets very little funding from the district, and almost everything for our classroom is funded by kind parents, generous donors, and myself.

The excitement that lights my students’ faces when they learn something new is a constant inspiration for my teaching.

My students enjoy interactive experiences, and their participation strengthens their learning. Distance learning makes it more challenging to engage my students, but I will not give up on this goal.

My Project

With the Teachers Pay Teachers money, I will be able to purchase materials that will provide my students with a variety of creative, interactive resources. On this site, there are lessons in all areas of the curriculum, including math, language arts, science, art, and social studies. These resources are exactly what I need to engage my students in interactive activities, without having to reinvent the wheel since another teacher has already created the lessons. Many of the resources will be compatible with my Google Classroom so I can share a link directly with my students and their families. Others can be printed and stapled together to make packets for the students to use at home.

The resources that I obtain from this grant will be used in my classroom for many years to come.

They are perfect for our distance learning situation; however, they can also be used in small groups and centers once we physically return to the classroom. One of the units I would like to buy is called Digital Brain Boosts. These will strengthen my students’ number sense and encourage them to think critically and persevere in problem-solving. The digital comprehension and word work packets will allow them to participate in close reading activities that build reading and listening comprehension skills.
