Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a school with an accelerated track for high achievers and a robust arts program including a steel pan band. The school admits students from across Brooklyn and Queens and serves grades 5 to 8. Most students arrive in 6th grade, but families concerned about competition for good middle schools may want to get a leg up by applying for fifth grade.

My students are motivated, self driven, and are always excited in learning mathematics on a daily basis.

The highest achievers are placed in an accelerated program after 6th grade, which includes honors classes in 7th grade and Regents courses in algebra and living environment in 8th grade.

My students are always out performing their peers in other classes based on the engaging, activity based, rich curriculum that fosters critical thinking and allow my students to use the inquiry approach to investigate math task given.

My Project

In recent years, printers have become the latest commodity in the tech industry because of the innovative and creative possibilities that they make possible. Students in my math classes are always having to write mathematical reflections, and print reports. Most of our students do not have access to printing at home. Having a printer in our math classroom would allow students to submit and print their reports on time. Students will be able to complete and print their Unit Projects after the completion of a such a unit.

Having a wireless printer in your classroom opens up a whole new world of lesson plans and teaching opportunities for my students.

A printer would allow students to make copies of their presentation. I would be able to make copies for students to complete their task, and allow me to print my unit test, quizzes, print students six weekly reports from Pupil Path to send home to their parents.
