Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All my students come from all over the world, creating a culturally rich English Language Learners (ELL) group. Our school has the fortune of having over six different languages spoken by ELLs. My school is located in a disadvantaged neighborhood; we have 98% minorities in the school, from which 16% are ELLs. This Title I elementary school has 100% of our students eligible for free lunch.

All my English Language Learner students are driven to learn English and succeed academically because they come to this country to have a better life.

Education is something they value over many things and they keep themselves motivated for every skill they learn. The perfect tool to exponentially support instruction for ELLs is the use of Chromebooks.

My students learn English as a New Language (ENL) to speak, read and write English with the goal of transition into a regular all-English classroom. They come with a positive and respectful attitude and hard work ethics. Funds for technology to support instructional goals are not enough, and I am looking for generous donors to help us close the achievement gap.

My Project

My students will use the Chromebook, the headphones and the splitter for small group and individual learning for research. The main goal is to learn English using Google Earth, NASA Kids Club, Google Translate, Merriam Webster Dictionary, MyOn and Mathletics to name a few. This Chromebook will help them understand concepts and it will make a world of difference to the children of the future who do not have the means to purchase this technology and give them equal footing in this society. My students will be using the Chromebook to learn with differentiated strategies and to enter the world fully understanding English. Your donations will allow my students to learn in the best way possible providing the additional support and resources for them to learn major subjects through technology. I sincerely thank you for your generosity!
