My Students

I teach a special education middle school class. This is the first year of this program, so I would benefit from as much help as I can get. My students have special needs and they can benefit from as much visual support as possible.

My students range from grades six through eight.

They attend a public middle school in New York and they have special needs ranging from autism, down syndrome and speech impairments. Most of the students in my class come from an outside BOCES program where they are used to having a lot of technology within the classroom.

My Project

This is the first year my school district implemented this special needs program. Therefore, my classroom lacks some supplies that my students would greatly benefit from. One thing in particular that would help my classroom is a projector camera. My students will be able to see firsthand objects, documents and photos on the big screen. They can also create documents and show their classmates. Most of my students have difficulty with social situations. I find that when technology comes into play, the students have a much easier time expressing themselves.

My students and I would greatly appreciate any support you can give us.

One of my goals as a teacher is to make the classroom accessible to everyone's needs. Thank you so much for your anticipated support.
