My Students

"C-O-L-L-E-G-E college is the place for me!" We love to learn from and encourage each other to be the best we can be. My classroom is a place where students feel safe and comfortable to take risks to grow their brains. Together, we wish to explore our curriculum through different modalities.

I teach reading to energetic and eager-to-learn students in grades 2-5.

They are from an under-served and poverty stricken urban area but come to school each day determined to make today better than the last and continue on their path to college. However, they need the right tools to do so. My students are motivated and enthusiastic to become the excellent students they know they can be!

My Project

With electronic readers, we will be able to explore our favorite texts (and new ones!) in ways that many of my students to not have opportunities to do at home. They will be able to find books beyond our small classroom library and learn how to use technology to research topics and learn more about the world outside of North Philadelphia. We will also be able to use educational sites and games to support our learning of important literacy skills.

By bringing technology to our classroom, my students will not only enjoy reading more, but learn important life skills in our modern technological world and continue to become students of the future.
