This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a teacher, my ultimate goal is to create a classroom where every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn. Many of the students in my class have unique sensory needs, and they often struggle with maintaining focus or calming down when they feel overwhelmed. Whether it’s the sound of a busy classroom, the pressure of a big test, or the challenge of staying on task, these students need a quiet space to take a break and reset. That’s where a Sensory Corner comes in.

I’m asking for your help to build a calming, sensory-friendly corner in our classroom—a space where students can self-regulate, refocus, and get back to learning.

This sensory corner will be a dedicated space where students can use specialized tools to soothe their senses and regain their emotional balance. This can make a huge difference in helping them feel calm and ready to engage in their work.
