I have had some amazing professional development trainings that have opened my mind up to fun and engaging lessons I can do with my students. Most of the lessons focus on books and how music can be used to improve literacy while having fun in the process. The other items i am requesting such as stuffed animals, seashells, tuners, hula hoops, agility rings, and the other miscellaneous objects will be used to supplement the lessons. For example, the sea animals and shells will be used for a lesson and book about the ocean. The hula hoops and agility rings will be used to add a physical aspect to a song that we will be learning in one of the books. We will move to the beat using hula hoop patterns on the floor. Having those tangible objects during the lesson will provide the students with deeper connections to the book.
This resources from this project will open up so many opportunities for my students and I.
We will be able to go even deeper with literacy through music which will allow the students to improve in music as well as their reading in their core classes. I am all about helping the students get to the next level. The books and other various items will be a great tool to improve musicianship and allow the students to enjoy making music even more in the classroom.
