Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine being 10 years old and not yet knowing how to read or write? Many students in this situation have simply given up, but current technology can play a powerful role in helping to reverse this situation. One day, I put an iPad in these students' hands, and it changed everything!

I teach literacy to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a public school setting.

Some of these students have additional disabilities (Vision Impairment, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism). My school has 600 students (K-5). Our poverty and mobility rates are extremely high. 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. The majority of my students are struggling readers. In this digital age, technology can provide infinite possibilities for practice of language, vocabulary, reading, and writing. iPads are a great motivator for learning and headphones, screen protectors, and cases will make our classroom iPads more accessible and protect them for years to come.

My Project

I have 3 iPads available to use with my students, but right now they are not student-friendly. I need to customize these iPads to fit the needs of my students. Screen protectors will help keep them clean and protective cases will help keep them safe from breakage. Headphones will make the iPads accessible to my hard of hearing students and allow them to listen to the sound at a comfortable level without bothering those around them. My students will have the opportunity to practice a variety of skills. They will be able to read and listen to books independently, practice vocabulary and writing, and work independently without fear of damaging the iPads. These accessories will provide freedom and access for my students.

Your donation to help customize our classroom iPads will open up a world of possibilities.

These accessories will keep our iPads accessible and protected. Thank you for your partnership in making a difference in my students' lives.
