My Students

Help us bring art into our classroom every day! My students need art supplies that encourage creativity and imagination but are also helpful with literacy and math skills.

My students are four-year-old girls living in the most under-served area of Washington, D.C.

Our all-girls school is 98% African-American and over 90% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. My girls are bright, curious, sweet and full of excitement for learning. At home, they may not be able to explore with art materials this rich, and this is a great chance for them to incorporate art into their daily learning.

My Project

These art materials will allow my students to draw, paint, mold and build. More importantly though, my girls will be able to use Wikki Stix to practice making letters, use letter sketch pads to improve their handwriting and explore the world of Eric Carle with innovative sketchpads.

Pre-kindergarten is the time to introduce art and create a love for creativity.

Without art supplies and exposure to painting, drawing and sculpting my students will leave this early education classroom without being able to experience what art and exploration can mean to them.

Celebrate Black teachers and kids! This project supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of students are Black.
