This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classes consist of motivated middle school students who are at various academic levels in a Title I school. As eighth graders they are learning about U.S history this school year. Being their reading teacher, I want to provide them with different perspectives of the major events they are learning. The selected novels have been chosen carefully to be able to provide this opportunity. Having access to these novels will help promote my schools literacy goal. It will also create an atmosphere of empathy and acceptance that will be evident in the relationships that we build in our classroom this year.
