Our school is near the center of urban Raleigh, NC. Our school is run by a small and dedicated staff focused on PBL (Project Based Learning.) We have been recognized as a Magnet School of Distinction performing better than our neighboring schools in this urban environment.
Though we have been recognized for our educational successes in an urban setting, financially, our families struggle, so your support would be gratefully appreciated.
As a school within the public system, we get some funding, but it's NC and we do not get the same support as other schools in NJ, NY, etc because our tax base is so low.
As a teacher, I am so proud of the diversity and acceptance our students display. Black, White, Latino, Bi-racial, gifted, challenged, LGBT+ students, etc. all intermingle without incident. We have built a caring and accepting environment. Your support would reinforce our continued success and growth.
My Project
With our tiny budget, I am unable to get these supplies for my urban school students. I want to show them how to make "professional" style muppets to express their cultures and world view. They will do performances locally with their characters focusing their energy into a socially appropriate means of expression. This STEAM-based lesson, taught by an expert, will be a huge hit with your help!
Your donation will enable us to buy the materials we need to make amazing muppet style puppets for community performances.
I would like to reward our high-performing urban school with something truly awesome, and give our students the spotlight to perform, explore, express, and teach. If all goes well, perhaps we can even perform for area elementary schools and extend the learning.
