My Students

These are unprecedented times. Never did I imagine that when my students and I said goodbye on March 12th that it would mean that it was our last day in school. However, the year is not over yet and the future in the fall remains uncertain.

My students and I have embarked on the distance learning journey!

We are actively engaging in all sorts of different online platforms and learning new things. My students and I participate three times a week in Zoom meetings to go over new material, and to check in with each other. In addition, I am recording lessons at home for them to view and continue to learn new material. I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation, and families' willingness to try new things.

My Project

Students are familar with smart phones, tablets, and IPads. This past year I even learned that when we are unable to communicate in the same language that students still understand how to use these devices. This has been a game changer when 1/5 of my buildings are English Language Learners. With an iPad and pencil students will be able to utilize amazing social emotional applications and career applications when working with them one to one. This will create a bridge with both my English Language Learners and with my younger learners that struggle with computer usage.

When not utilizing it for direct service with a student it is an amazing tool for accessing student records quickly, dictating notes for student files or working with a parent on how to navigate resources for their children utilizing an IPad, smart phone or tablet!
