My Students

Migration of the Monarchs is coming to DC and the 1st graders want to be ready for them!

We are an urban dual language immersion program that teaches students to think, speak, read and write in two languages.

Our 1st grade French students would like to participate in the migration by planting, growing and tending a class garden. Milkweed is our next project!

My Project

Children learn by doing. My students need soil, pots and an aquarium kit. Students will be able to plant seeds, learn the needs of plants and then be allowed to take them home to tend them. A science journal will be made available so that they can document the process. Also, taking the plants home will allow the family to become involved with the process.

The migration of the monarch is a huge life lesson for our young learners.

Connecting home, classroom and real world experiences will be an education that the students will grow with, thrive on, and become excited about school. When learning is this engaging, buy in is guaranteed.
