I am reaching out to seek your support for my second-grade classroom, as we are in urgent need of an upgrade!
As we approach the upcoming school year, I am committed to being intentional about my teaching methods and enhancing my students' learning experiences. I firmly believe that students thrive when they have access to essential materials and tools within their learning environment, which is critical for their success. To create a functional and purposeful atmosphere, I am requesting various materials, flexible seating options, and furniture that will ultimately benefit my students' academic and social-emotional needs.
One significant change I am making is removing my traditional teacher desk. I believe this piece of furniture does not contribute to my students' learning experience as effectively as it could. Instead, I am requesting an electric standing desk that will allow me to teach while standing. This desk will be adjustable, enabling me to move around and engage more actively with my students.
As an advocate for all my students, I am focused on meeting the diverse needs of those on the Autism spectrum and those with ADHD. It is crucial to have materials that promote calmness, especially during times of distress. Therefore, I am also requesting flexible seating options. My students enjoy the comfort of soft cushion spots and wobble chairs. Additionally, some students benefit from having resistance bands attached to their chairs to help manage their fidgeting.
With the fall season approaching, we know that students often start to cough and sneeze more frequently. I am requesting essential supplies such as Lysol spray and wipes, Kleenex tissues, and air fresheners. These items will help keep germs at bay and ensure that our classroom remains a safe and clean space for all.
