Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our library is becoming a central hub for our students! With this great change, we need to upgrade old systems we have used in the past. We would like to order an Epson, receipt printer to give our patrons a visual reminder of books they have checked out.

We are a campus library that serves three unique schools in New York.

Our school library serves Title I schools with over 80% of the student population qualifying for free and reduced lunch. Our students are inquisitive and eager 6th-12th graders that come from a community that has severe socioeconomic challenges. While we live in a digital age, our students do not have access to or experience with technology.

My Project

For many of our students, the school library is the only library they know. While the public library is in walking distance, they dare not visit after-school due to fear or violence and overall safety issues. While we are a small school library, we attempt to stand in the gap between the public library and our students and afford them with the possibilities and experiences they would have in a public library. With the growing number of students attending our school library, we need this Epson, receipt printer to help students remember when books are due or to inform them of how many books they currently have out on their accounts.

Having this project get funded and receiving an Epson, receipt printer would help our growing library community become better patrons.

It would also give so many of our students who can not go to the public library an idea of how other 'real' libraries operate!
