My Project

We finally constructed our trellis tunnel made of cattle panels and we can't wait to grow some squash, pumpkins and cucumbers on there. When the vines grow on the trellis we will be able to walk inside and pretend we are in a fairy porthole to the Netherworld. We have had some trouble with squash bugs and pickleworm so the bT spray and sticky traps will help combat that. We hope the organza bags will protect the cucumbers and squash so we can have a plentiful harvest.

Being able to walk inside of this tunnel after it is covered in vines will be something many of my students have never experienced.

It will be magical and awesome for them and we want to put some chairs in there so we can sit and chill when the times get hectic. Being able to teach my students these specific ways to grow specific crops will give them a broader field of knowledge when they leave us and go into the real world. And having an area to deal with SEL emotions is always helpful as well. I can't wait to see what the finished trellis looks like with all the vines growing over it!
