Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach grades K-5 ELL students at an elementary school. Many of my students are fairly new to this country and learning what education in the United States has to offer.

Every student that enters my room brings on different life experiences, perspectives and different learning levels.

I try to make each child feel comfortable, confident and provide them with an education that will meet their level as well as their learning style. We are an eager and energetic bunch and are excited about this school year!

My Project

For my ELL readers to boost my students comprehension and build their knowledge. My ELL students struggle in reading, writing, and speaking. In my classroom, we practice listening, speaking, reading and writing daily using different learning strategies to meet their different levels. My students need reading comprehension skills and strategies books sets to meet their learning needs. With these materials, I can use with the children to teach various strategies and skills. These text can be use to instruct in many areas and help all of my children, who are at different language and reading levels. These books would give my students a much needed boost of practice in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students can build their confidence in their listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities.

With Word Fun Book sets, photographic learning cards and hot dot main idea cards, making inferences and oral language builders

my students will develop reading skills needed to understand informational and narrative text, key ideas and details, craft and structure, and integration of knowledge and ideas.

Within in small group instruction my students can practice building their comprehension skills at just the right level.
