My Students

Our school is a very special place and our students are no exception. Nestled in a busy Brooklyn neighborhood, our students come from all 5 boroughs of New York City to be here each day. They stay late, busy at clubs or other afterschool activities.

Our library-loving students are good-natured, curious and hardworking.

They had to be at the very top of their class to gain admission to our school. Our school is at 60% poverty, just shy of the Title I designation.

My Project

Our students love coming to the library for a variety of reasons. Many complete school work, while others need a moment to relax and recharge before continuing their busy day.

We love having resources for students, including educational games, to help them unwind in the library and regroup.

Luckily, our games are so loved at this point that we need to replace a number of them. We have received multiple requests for new sets of chess, checkers, UNO and Scrabble, and this Donorschoose grant will allow students access to these fun games. We are also excited to have better quality tablecloths on our Makerspace, and new micro-pens that our manga-lovers can enjoy using.
