Unplug Me please! Unplugged Coding & Robotics

Help me give my students the chance to learn coding skills without needing to "plug in" to technology. The robotic dogs will be a great way for them to interact with robotics without the need for iPads.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the best 5 and 6 year olds you could ever meet! They are future computer scientists, doctors, teachers, scientists, mathematicians, police officers and even future race car drivers! They are learning to understand the importance of getting college and career ready and they work really hard every day.

I work in a Title I school in a working class neighborhood.

My students are mostly ELLS and are just starting to learn English, but that doesn't stop their tenacity in learning!

My Project

The unplugged games and activities like the robot dog will get the students in a coding mindset without the need for technology in the classroom. As a teacher, I do not always want the students using the iPads or the laptops during computer science time. Sometimes, I want them to be able to use the skills of coding in other, unplugged ways.

Kindergarteners can learn to code!

They can learn that they too can develop the skills that are needed in our day and age. They are engineers, coders, mathematicians and scientists! These unplugged games and robots, give the students the abilities to play cooperatively with each other and learn from one another.

Being College and Career ready means being able to persevere through obstacles, work together and learn the language of tomorrow which is coding! The great thing about this is that the students will be able to play these games at home without the need of iPads or laptops which most of my students do not have access to at home.
