This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students with learning disabilities need genuine, hands-on experience to master their math skills. Hands-on experiences can be individually tailored to meet each student’s needs, interests, and learning styles, allowing them to take ownership of their learning and progress at their own pace. By actively participating, they are more likely to remember and use the knowledge and skills they’ve gained. It’s a journey of exploration, actively absorbing information while engaging in experiment, discovery, and yes, even making mistakes. By working individually or collaboratively on real-world problems, they are more likely to acquire innovative thinking and problem-solving skills.

For students with learning disabilities, hands-on activities can improve focus, attention span, and provide a more engaging learning experience that exceeds traditional teaching methods.

Still, engaging in hands-on activities helps develop skills such as decision-making and collaboration, which is highly valued in today’s professional environment. As my students succeed, they gain confidence in their abilities, making them more likely to embrace new challenges. I am requesting dry erase markers, XY coordinate sticky pads, and dry erase boards for these hands-on experiences.
