This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright, resilient, and eager to learn. As young scholars in an underserved Title 1 school, they face many challenges, but their enthusiasm for learning never wavers. Many do not have access to books at home, making our classroom library a crucial resource in fostering a love for reading. They deserve stories that captivate their imaginations and spark their curiosity.

These books will provide them with new adventures, relatable characters, and exciting worlds to explore—turning reading from a task into a joy.

I am requesting a collection of engaging, high-interest books that will help my students develop a lifelong love for reading. By having access to books they are excited about, my students will be more motivated to read independently and build strong literacy skills. For many of my students, school is the only place they have consistent access to books. A well-stocked, inviting classroom library can be the key to transforming reluctant readers into passionate ones. Research shows that students who develop a love for reading early on perform better academically, think more critically, and develop greater empathy.

With your support, we can help our students become confident, enthusiastic readers.Provide books that excite and engage students, encouraging them to read for pleasure. Ensure students have a variety of stories to explore, regardless of their background or home resources. Create an environment where students see reading as a source of joy, not just an academic requirement.

Reading opens doors to new possibilities, knowledge, and self-discovery. By funding this project, you are helping to ensure that every student—regardless of their circumstances—has the opportunity to experience the joy of getting lost in a great book.
