Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I absolutely love my students for their curiosity, determination, and unique personalities. Each of them brings something special to our classroom, and I’m constantly inspired by their eagerness to grow as readers and thinkers. They come from diverse backgrounds and face various challenges, but they never let obstacles dampen their drive to learn. Their resilience and enthusiasm motivate me to provide them with the tools and resources they need to succeed. That’s why I’m thrilled to request Lakeshore Reading Comprehension Journals, classroom headphones, whiteboards, and dry-erase markers—items that will make a significant difference in their literacy journey.

The Lakeshore Reading Comprehension Journals will give students the opportunity to track their understanding as they read, allowing them to make connections, reflect on new concepts, and develop critical thinking skills.

The whiteboards and dry-erase markers will be invaluable for interactive lessons, where students can practice spelling, grammar, and comprehension strategies in a hands-on way. The classroom headphones will enable them to fully engage with audio resources and practice listening skills, especially beneficial for students who learn better through auditory methods or need extra support with language comprehension. Together, these resources will create an environment where they can explore literacy in multiple formats, building a stronger foundation for reading success.

My goal for this project is to foster a classroom where students feel confident in their literacy skills and excited about reading. With these resources, I hope to nurture a love for learning and reading that goes beyond the classroom. My students deserve every opportunity to grow, and these tools will help them overcome challenges, find joy in reading, and build skills that will support them for life. They are a truly special group, and with your support, I know we can help them thrive. Thank you for considering our project!
