Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love how resilient and determined my students are, despite the many challenges they face. Each day, they come to school eager to learn and grow, even when they are dealing with significant obstacles such as poverty, PTSD, autism, trauma, and the complex realities of immigration and asylum-seeking. My students are special because of their incredible spirit and dedication to overcoming these challenges to build brighter futures for themselves.
The books I am requesting will make a transformative difference in their learning journey.
Many of my students are English Language Learners who struggle with reading, and these books will provide them with engaging, age-appropriate materials that cater to their diverse needs and interests. By having access to these resources in my school counseling office, students can work on their reading skills in a supportive and nurturing environment.
The primary goal of this project is to enhance my students' literacy skills while addressing their social-emotional needs. By providing these books, I aim to create a space where students feel safe, supported, and motivated to improve their reading abilities. This project is not just about improving literacy; it's about giving my students the tools they need to succeed academically and emotionally.
