This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The Power of Snacks and Lights can create an environment that fosters students mental health. As a high school teacher, I support students with diverse needs and who are diagnosed with emotional behavior disorder. My students come from diverse cultures and low-socioeconomic status.

Snack breaks and well-lit environments can significantly impact the mental health and well-being of my high school students.

These seemingly simple interventions can create a more positive and supportive learning environment, fostering a sense of belonging and reducing stress and anxiety.

My goal is to improve the overall mental health and well-being of my high school students with EBD by providing regular snack breaks and optimizing classroom lighting. The nutritional needs through snacks is important for my students. The snacks improve focus, and reduce impulsive behaviors, all of which are common challenges for students with EBD. Furthermore, the lights can minimize distractions and create a calming atmosphere. By having such items, we can foster stress reduction through consistent snack breaks and well-lit spaces that can help reduce stress and anxiety, promoting a more relaxed and positive learning environment and my students overall mental health.

With your contributions, you will be supporting my students mental health through learning self-regulation, regular breaks and a calming environment can help students develop self-regulation skills, enabling them to better manage their emotions and behaviors. By providing them with the basic necessities of food and a comfortable learning environment, we can help them overcome these obstacles and reach their full potential. These students are resilient, intelligent, and deserving of every opportunity to succeed. By prioritizing their mental health and well-being, we can create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for all of my students.
