My Students

Welcome to my page! I am thrilled that you've taken the time to get to know the unique needs of my students. Did you know that there are approximately 5,000 students in the Worcester Public Schools identified as a student with special needs? I am a Learning Disabilities (LD) Specialist at Dr. Arthur F. Sullivan Middle School. As a passionate educator, I strive to enhance each student's ability to access the curriculum, improve skills, and apply learned strategies in an effort to develop a life-long independent learner. These materials will not only provide my students with access to the general education setting like their peers, but it will also allow them to achieve academic success for the 2021-2022 school year!

My Project

Many students at our school face reading deficits. The donated headphones will not only allow our students to access print-rich text independently, but the built-in speakers will also provide a means for students to compose writing pieces using speech-to-text technology. This Universal Design for Learning will assist students when choosing grade-level texts that they may access for both their classroom content, as well independent reading time.

With these new headphones, our students will be able to choose from a variety of genres and text complexities that will allow them to read and comprehend independently at their own grade level

The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these headphones will continue to help our students not only increase literacy skills, but also foster life-long learners. Our struggling readers deserve access to grade level texts, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
