My Students

I work as an English as a Second Language Teacher as well as a special education teacher in a low-income school for at-risk Pre-K students.

My students range in age from three to five years and the students I work with and service either qualify for ESL services or have a disability for a delay in academics, social skills, language, and/or focus and attention.

My students are energetic, talkative, caring, and social. Some are still learning the English language and our program and additional supports allow my students to learn the skills and concepts necessary to be successful in kindergarten.

My Project

In early childhood we celebrate the similarities and differences that we see in our classroom and in our school. In order to help my students learn to appreciate the different backgrounds & cultures in our class, I need to provide my students with hands-on materials and activities that represent our diverse population and families.

By creating a more multi-cultural classroom, I will be able to teach my students skills such as acceptance, respect for others, appreciating differences, & being able to share part of their home and family with our classroom and students.

I want my students to learn to accept differences, learn to love themselves for who they are, & to feel good about themselves and their family traditions.
