Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Uniform shirts help promote equity among students by removing barriers related to appearance and income. When every student is wearing the same type of shirt, it reduces the visible differences between families who may have more and those who have less. This levels the playing field and allows all students to feel included.

For students who come from low-income households, clothing can be a source of stress.

Without access to name brands or frequent wardrobe changes, these children may feel self-conscious. But with a uniform shirt, they can blend in with their peers and avoid being singled out based on what they wear.

Uniform shirts also promote a sense of school identity. They show that all students, regardless of background, are part of the same team. That feeling of unity is powerful—it teaches respect, kindness, and cooperation.

Giving students uniform shirts is one way we can reduce inequality in the classroom. It’s a simple step that leads to a more inclusive and fair environment, where students can focus on learning and not worry about fitting in.
