Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school in which most of the students come from low-socio economic backgrounds. My class is composed of enthusiastic, hard working, and talented students.

As we continue the academic year, my goal is to provide my students with a positive learning environment where math becomes relevant and fun.

My Project

Teaching students without visual cues and hands-on manipulatives makes it difficult for them to visualize how fractions and number lines go hand in hand. Students can benefit immensely from both at home learning and in-person learning with fraction visuals and number line and fraction white boards. The double sided white boards will help students to label a number line using both whole numbers and fractions and use fraction bars to represent parts of a whole.

With these enlarged magnetic visuals and fraction number lines write wipe boards students can deepen their understanding of numbers as parts of a whole.

The giant magnetic manipulatives will make concepts easy to see and most importantly it will allow students to understand fraction concepts and build math skills.
