My Project

For our last unit of study of the year, my first graders and I will be studying light and sound. One of the ways that we will study light and sound is through play with both light and sound. One of the ways that we play with light in through including light sources and materials that use light in interesting ways into our play and our play spaces.

Students will be able to add these light sources and translucent materials to their play, which will encourage them to talk about light and its benefits/drawbacks within our storytelling.

How do storytellers use light? How do scientists use light? How do artists use light?

We will talk about how light is refracted and understand the concepts of a rainbow and the colors within it.
