Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are caring, creative, hard-working, and fun-loving. The items in this project will help us give them the prom they, (and especially our class officers), have worked so hard to put on.

Our campus is challenged in many ways, but this graduating class (as well as our previous) has had their high school experience interrupted by a global pandemic.

Many of our students and their families have struggled financially, not to mention physically and emotionally.

We want to celebrate the academic successes these kids have achieved, as students in other high schools in the district have far more resources than ours. The items chosen for this project will lift up these kids as they wind down their high school experience. This added bonus will serve as both a "thanks" and a "congratulations."

The necklaces are for our senior class officers, whose dedication and school spirit has carried us all through the past few years and the many challenges, especially this year. Their hard work and dedication is noticed and appreciated, and we want them to have something special to always carry with them as a reminder of just how wonderful they are and will continue to be. The moonstone was chosen specifically for them as it is a stone that represents transition, fitting, as they are closing the book on high school and moving off to college after the summer.

The decorations (balloons, et cetera) will help liven the space we have reserved for their prom. The sound system will not only be used for prom, but for all of the end-of-year senior activities that are upcoming. The decor and sound system will be passed down to all future senior classes for as long as they last!
