This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are energetic, hardworking young people who need extra support to perform to their best ability in school. For many of them, their first school experience is in kindergarten and they need a lot of support when we first get them. This can range from play to academics and positive behaviors for learning. They have a wide range of learning challenges that we work on several times a week, focusing on activities of daily living, fine/ gross motor skills, and self regulation skills.

Due to difficulties processing sensory information from their environment, our students require additional sensory input to participate in the classroom and succeed in the school environment.

My Project

Children who need to feel serious pressure in order to feel safe can experience it by crawling through the rollers and being flattened like being steamrolled! It can help their attention and prepare students for more focused tasks ahead. Furthermore it can assist with body awareness in space and motor planning as they work their way around their environment .

Students on the autism spectrum especially can benefit from using this machine.

It can calm them down and make them feel grounded when they may otherwise feel stressed or overwhelmed by the classroom environment. With this machine, many students will benefit in their mindfulness of their bodies in space.
